With rain mostly staying away, Puja revellers throng pandals on Mahasasthi

With bright sunshine and little sign rain, the city roads were converted into a sea of people with puja revellers visiting the important Durga Puja pandals from the afternoon on the Mahasasthi day today.
The Bengali songs composed by Mamata Banerjee were super hits with many puja organisers across the city playing them from the morning. She has composed 16 songs which have been sung by Indranil Sen, Babul Supriyo, Sriradha Bandyopadhyay, Nachiketa, Rupankar among others.
Puja organisers also played some of the famous Bengali puja numbers which were sung by Hemanta Mukherjee, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bholse, Sandhya Mukherjee, Arati Mukherjee, Pintu Bhattacharya, Suman Kalyanpur among others.
Old Bengali numbers composed by Salil Chowdhury and sung by Hemanta Mukherjee in the 1950s and 1960s like Amae Prasna Kore Nil Dhrubotara, Path Harabo Bole Ebar Pothe Nemechi, Ami Jharer Kache Rekhe Gelam were played through amplifiers.
