Kishenji's widow surrenders and returns to mainstream

A member of the CPI (Maoist) Central Committee, Potula Padmvati, also known as Kalpana, Mynakka and Sujatha, who was underground for 43 years, has surrendered before the Telangana Police.
She is the widow of the dreaded Maoist leader, Kishenji, who was gunned down by West Bengal police in 2011.
Following her surrender, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the minister of state for home affairs, stated: "As per Hon'ble home minister Amit Shahji's call, I once again appeal to Maoists: 'Lay down arms.' Armed revolutions are outdated. Join the path of development and welfare, in line with the people's aspirations."
