The nightis still. Suddenly, the sound of drums breaks the silence. A man in red, with a painted face and towering headgear, walks into the courtyard. People gather around. Slowly, the man is no longer just a dream. They believe the Goddess has arrived. This is Theyyam.
Theyyam is not just a performance. It is faith. It is music, fire,and devotion. When the performer dances, people bow before him. They pray for blessings,courage,and protection. Forthose few hours, the human body becomes divine.
