IIT Kharagpur climbs to 4th in India in QS World University rankings 2026, rises 7 spots globally

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has made a remarkable leap in the QS World University Rankings 2026, securing the 4th position in India and rising seven places globally to rank 215th in the world.
The latest rankings, released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), evaluated a record 8,467 institutions worldwide, with 1,501 universities finally making it to the prestigious list. IIT Kharagpur's improved standing is attributed to its strong performance across key indicators such as Sustainability, Employer Reputation, Citations per Faculty, and International Research Network.
