A massive cache of illegal firearms and military-grade ammunition was seized late Monday night in Khardah, a densely populated area in West Bengal's North 24-Parganas district, sparking political controversy and raising serious questions about arms trafficking in the region.

Military-grade ammunition, firearms seized in Khardah

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team from Khardah and Kamarhati police raided the residence of Naim Ansari, alias Nepali, a local resident on Maulana Selim Road, and uncovered an arsenal that included four homemade pipe guns, four rounds of 8mm cartridges, five rounds of .38 bullets, three rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and one rare .318 Nitro cartridge—typically used by military or paramilitary forces.
