There was a clear sense of relief among India’ star players after their crucial victory over New Zealand at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, which confirmed their berth in the knockout stages of the tournament.
India bounced back strongly from a disappointing run of three consecutive defeats to defeat the White Ferns by 53 runs (DLS Method) in Navi Mumbai on Thursday. The victory ensured their progression tothe semifinals, where they are set to face either Australia or South Africa next week, following their final group fixture against Bangladesh.
The foundation of India’s commanding win was laid by openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, both of whomscored brilliant centuries to put the team in control. Their partnership provided the perfect platform for the middle order, with Jemimah Rodrigues, recalled to the playing XI and promoted to No.3, adding an unbeaten 76 to anchor India’s innings and take them to a formidable 340/3 in 49 overs.

Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshaslacks spark
Indian cinema in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and even earlier harped on romances. There were parental objections, and often we had a villain who had an eye on the girl. But the characters were neatly slotted: there was no confusion about who the hero was and who the bad man was. Today, this line has blurred, and we saw this in Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas, directed by Akshay Shere, now playing on Zee5.
