Honda Motorcycle expects demand cycle upturn September onwards

For Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), "Catch ‘em young" seems to be the new mantra, when it comes to creating awareness and propagating road safety among the two-wheeler customers.

"We have already imparted different forms of training to 10 million customers on various features and techniques of road safety. Our target is that there should be no fatal accident on Indian roads by 2050. And keeping that in mind we are reaching out to as many schools and colleges as possible across the country and jointly with various state governments we are offering them different modules of road safety and traffic rules. It's catch ‘em young, grow them old, for us," said Yogesh Mathur, Director - Sales & Marketing, HMSI.

Significantly, road crashes have long been India's silent epidemic. Millions of us use Roads every day and more than 474 families doesn't get back home, day after day. Road crash deaths are the biggest cause of unnatural deaths for Indians and leading players of automotive industry can't leave it unattended.

Majority of India's young and productive population are often the victims and that's future of the country. With more than two-wheelers accounting for nearly 45 per cent of these fatalities, and children forming a shockingly high proportion of victims, Honda felt it was time for decisive action. The focus clearly is on solutions that are easy for families and road users to adopt.
