The Lakhpati Didi Yojana is not just a welfare scheme; it is a strategy for inclusive development.
Today's Lakhpati Didis are tomorrow's entrepreneurs who will lead the growth of this country, said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday.
Addressing a National Lakhpati Didi Summit here, the Chief Minister said the objective is to empower women and instill a sense of leadership among rural women.
Lakhpati Didis and government officials from 25 states and union territories of the country participated in this summit organized by the Mission Shakti Department here.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken many steps for the political, social, and economic independence of women, he said. The Nari Shakti Bandhan Act has been passed in the Parliament for the representation of women in the political sphere. Through this, at least 33 percent of women will be elected to the Lok Sabha and the Legislative Assembly in the upcoming elections, he said.
The CM highlighted the achievements of the Lakhpati Didi Yojana in Odisha, which has ranked the best in the country with around 17 lakh women from rural areas, including tribal regions, becoming Lakhpati Didi.
The state government is providing interest-free loans of up to Rs 10 lakh to self-help groups and revolving fund support has been increased from Rs 15,000 to Rs 30,000. The Community Investment Fund has been increased from Rs 35 lakh to Rs 60 lakh. Due to this, SHG members are able to take their business and livelihood forward with self-confidence.
