IPL: Fans left disappointed as rain stops play between KKR, Punjab Kings

A sizeable crowd at the iconic Eden Gardens was left disappointed as Saturday's Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings was abandoned due to incessant rain.

Faced with a difficult target of 202 runs, KKR openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine had scored seven runs between them in the first over when the heavens opened up, forcing an immediate halt in the proceedings.

With the rain refusing to relent, albeit with brief interludes, the officials were ultimately forced to call off the rest of the game and award a point each to both teams.

However, before the rain gods decided to intervene, both teams had served up a cracker of a contest.

For the first time this season at Eden Gardens, a team won the toss and chose to bat first—and Punjab Kings made the most of it as Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran partnered together to propel visitors to 201/4.
