Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda underscored India's remarkable progress in healthcare since 2014, stating that the decline in the Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) is twice the global average. He also noted a significant reduction in the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and under-five mortality rate.

Speaking at the 9th National Summit on Good & Replicable Practices and Innovation in the Public Healthcare System in Puri on Friday, Nadda emphasized the crucial role of community participation in health campaigns. He praised ASHA workers, SHOs, and other grassroots health workers for their contributions.

Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, India has remained steadfast in its commitment to eliminating tuberculosis. The ongoing 100-Day TB Elimination Campaign, covering 455 districts, has already identified 5 lakh TB patients. Citing WHO reports, Nadda highlighted a 17.7% decline in TB incidence between 2015 and 2023.
