Robertson urges All Blacks to 'clear their minds'

The Star

September 05, 2025

NEW Zealand coach Scott Robertson yesterday warned his players they must ‘clear their minds” if they are to match South Africa’s physicality and extend a 50-Test unbeaten streak at Auckland’s Eden Park.

Robertson has made three starting changes for tomorrow's Rugby Championship clash between the world’s top two sides, in which star forward Ardie Savea will mark his 100th Test appearance.

Injuries mean seasoned scrumhalf Finlay Christie will make his first start in more than a year, while uncapped No 9 Kyle Preston has been named on the bench after a meteoric rise. The 25-year-old only recently completed his maiden Super Rugby campaign with the champion Canterbury Crusaders.

The scrumhalf position has been hit hard by injuries this year to Robertson’s three preferred options: Cam Roigard, Cortez Ratima and Noah Hotham.
