Rethabile Mahlabe overcomes challenges to succeed in Matric

RETHABILE Mahlabe from Forte High School had a matric year filled with challenges that tested him in ways he never expected.

But his story is one of strength and determination.Growing up in a tough environment made studying very difficult. “Where I live, you're surrounded by a lot of noise, violence, and gangsterism as well as crime,” he explains. “Sometimes I would hear people screaming at night and sometimes even gunshots.”

Despite this, Rethabile stayed focused while many others his age got involved in crime.
