Business and life are intertwined

I AM not a fan of motivational speakers. They always leave me demotivated.

- DON MAKATILE

The same with business books. I find, inadvertently, that they are none of my business. The only business book I have happily endured was a tome titled Warren Buffett, The Snowball and the Business of Life by Alice Schroeder on the Nebraska investment mogul.

A lot of what Buffett was quoted on resonated with me. It was about 'the business of life'. I have not had reason to touch another business book since then - that is until I laid my hands on Slaying the Standard, The Field manual for Business leaders Who Refuse to Settle, Antonio Iozzo's second book. I read it to call his bluff; see if he was capable of giving me another 'Buffett high'. Well, you are reading what is now my vote of confidence on the billionaire businessman's beautiful mind. It's a book about raising the standard; 'slaying' the standard.
