Binmen tell of terror as armed gang attacked wagon in street

THREE binmen 'just doing their jobs' had their lives ruined in a terrifying road rage ambush.

The council workers have all been forced to quit work after an armed gang attacked them while they were on their rounds.

The violence was sparked by a near-miss involving a bin wagon and a car in Birches Head. It set off a chain of events that saw two bin wagons come under fire from three men and one youth wielding a sledgehammer, axe, pole and bar.

A gun was also fired, in scenes compared by the judge to a TV crime drama.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard statements from the victims as their attackers were jailed for a total of more than 18 years.
