Companies failing to comply face fines
COUNCIL chiefs are set to impose stricter rules over roadworks to 'rebalance' the current legislation in favour of local authorities and road users.
Staffordshire County Council has spelled out in a letter to utility companies its new approach to work impacting on its highways network.
The council sets out how it will impose new regulations on utility companies who need access to the road network and use fines to encourage compliance.
The council says it wants to work with utility companies to ensure their work is completed as quickly as possible, and to a sufficient standard.
