Thorpe caps off stunning comeback to earn Premier points for super Greenhoffs
The Sentinel

GREENHOFFS staged a superb second-half fightback to beat FC Lambourne 3-2 in the Premier Division.
Lambourne looked in full control at the interval, heading into the break with a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Kyle Johnson and Elisio Francisco.
But the restart brought a complete turnaround. Kyle Diskin sparked the fightback with a precise finish from a tight angle, before Jack Finney drew Greenhoffs level with a superb strike on his left foot.
With momentum firmly on their side, Greenhoffs completed the turnaround late on when Josh Thorpe raced clear through on goal and coolly slotted into the bottom corner to snatch all three points and inflict a first defeat on Lambourne.
Defending champions Wood Lane’s difficult start to the campaign continued as they were held at home by Royal Furlong.
In a closely-contested affair, Dan Lancett bagged a brace for the hosts, while goals from Amir Maohoub and Jordan Stevenson ensured Furlong went home with a deserved share of the spoils.
In Division One, Abbey Hulton climbed up to fourth place in the table after a convincing home victory over Vale Hoppers.
‘The hosts were on the front foot from the off and made their dominance count with a flurry of goals.
Lewis Holdham was the star of the show, netting twice to grab a well-deserved brace.
He was supported by teammates Theo Smith and Sol Ashworth, who also found the target to round off an impressive team performance.
In Division Two, Chesterton’s perfect start to the season was brought to an abrupt end as they fell to a clinical AFC Crown side.
Crown were ruthless in front of goal, with Liam Curley bagging a brace, Dan Taylor and Ethan Gater also finding the net, and Billy Heeks calmly converting from the penalty spot.
‘The result not only ended Chesterton’s unbeaten run but also lifted Crown to the top of the table, underlining their early title credentials.
There was joy for AFC Moorlands as they secured their first win of the campaign with a strong performance against Newcastle Athletic.
