STOKIE PATERSON TIED UP IN NOTTS

Former Potters and Valiants frontman Martin handed chance to lead County's promotion bid
FORMER Stoke City and Port Vale striker Martin Paterson has been named as Notts County's new head coach.
Tunstall-born Paterson replaces Stuart Maynard, who was sacked by the League Two club following their play-off semi-final defeat to AFC Wimbledon.
Paterson, aged 38, was briefly in charge of Burton Albion during the latter part of the 2023/24 season.
He won just five of his 20 games but managed to steer them narrowly to safety in League One - although his short-term contract wasn’t extended.
The ex-Northern Ireland international has plenty of coaching experience, though, working as assistant to Michael Duff at Barnsley and Swansea, as well as being Phil Neville’s assistant at Inter Miami.
Notts director of football Roberto Gagliardi told the club website: “We're hugely excited to introduce Martin as our new head coach.
