Spin king Chell steals show as Endon seal cup success

JACK Chell left Burslem in a spin as Endon secured victory in their Talbot Cup second-round tie.

Chell grabbed a hat-trick on his way to figures of 6-8 as Premier B visitors Burslem were bundled out for 110.

Eranga Dissanagge top-scored with 28, with Matthew Morris (19) and Ryan Roberts (17) both made starts.

A rain delay meant that Endon’s target was revised to 103 from 32 overs.

And the Division One outfit booked their place in the quarterfinals as they clinched an eight-wicket triumph.

Josh Tittensor (34no), Jordan Weaver (30) and Simon Tucker (21no) knocked off the runs for the Post Lane hosts.

Hem Heath thrashed fellow Premier A side Alsager by 10 wickets in their meeting.

‘The outcome was never in doubt from the moment hosts Alsager were bundled out for just 72 in Sunday's clash.

Tom Hodson and Liam Banks claimed 4-7 and 3-21 respectively to run through Alsager.

Hassan Haleem (13), Waqas Hussain (12) and Sam Goodwin (11) offered the primary resistance for the hosts.

Hem Heath raced to their target in just eight overs as Banks compiled 39 not out and Matt Hodson struck an unbeaten 32.

Premier B Whitmore sprung a surprise as they knocked topflight Bagnall Norton out of the competition.

Whitmore made their way to 183-8 from a rain-reduced 30 overs, fronted by Caleb Mierkalns’ half-century.
