|May 29, 2025
WOOD Lane seconds powered to victory over Woore 2nd XI to chalk up a fifth successive NSSCL Division Six win and remain top of the table.
The match at Megacre went with form as Woore are still searching for a maiden league triumph of the campaign and sit at the bottom of the standings.
Visitors Woore were limited to 125-7, despite several batters managing to make starts.
John Tellwright top-scored with 26, with Chris Gater (23no), Andrew Burton (19) and Matilda Atherton-Gater (15) all making contributions.
Paul Mason picked up a couple of wickets for Wood Lane.
It took Wood Lane just 10 overs to knock off the runs as openers Ashley Guest and Matthew Hagan weren't parted.
Guest took the lead role with 86 not out, hitting nine fours and seven sixes in the process.
Hagan was happy to play second fiddle as he walked off unbeaten on 21 with another success banked on his side’s record.
Wedgwood seconds had a productive day on the road as they took the points at Meakins thirds.
It was their bowlers who put in the hard yards to set up the triumph as they skittled Meakins for 93 in the first half.
U Mazhar claimed 3-9 and there were double strikes from G Timmis, S Moore and D Crawford.
