Valiants boss Moore says players produced the complete display to provide much-needed cheer

- Dan Newbould

'RESULT HAD BEEN COMING'

TROPHY DELIGHT: Vale boss Darren Moore was thrilled with his side's performance in midweek.

DARREN Moore believes the performance against Barnsley has been 'there or thereabouts' from the start of the season.

Vale put five past their opponents in a top display in the Vertu Trophy ahead of facing Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup tomorrow.

He analysed: "It was good to get off to a good start. It was a real positive start from us and we managed to maintain the performance through the game and get another couple of goals.

"There were so many good things about the performance which were so rewarding to see but I suppose the most important thing was the goals being scored.

"We feel probably from the start of the season that type of performance has been there or thereabouts.

"Probably what's missing from the other performances has been the goals.
