Rail passengers urged 'to plan ahead' as line closes

Trains won't run between Stoke and Manchester for 3 weeks

NO trains will run between Stoke and Manchester for three weeks over the summer as a major demolition scheme begins.

Passengers are being advised to check the dates affecting the route, which is the most used in the country.

Those affected will have to use replacement bus services or take trains using diversionary routes. The three-week closure - affecting 50 miles of the West Coast Mainline - will run from August 2 to 23.

During that time, there will be no services north of Stoke Station to Manchester.
