Porter confident Vale can make their mark in new surroundings

The supporters' club chairman is delighted the Valiants have bounced back to League One at the first attempt having been relegated last season.

There have been key players in Porter's opinion and he thinks the club have a bright future in the higher division.

The first was George Byers and Porter said: "He showed his class at Wimbledon with that ball through to Jaheim Headley. It was just inch perfect, that's the kind of ball you play at the top of the Championship in the Premier League.

"He's been out injured but he came back at the right time to help the team over the line.

"He will be a better player again in the higher division."

Porter spoke of others too and added: "Ben Garrity, when he's played, he's really put shift in and he's really driven us on. Mitch Clark, for me, if he hadn't been injured, would have been playing all season. The way he came back in for the last five, six, seven, eight games down that right side and crossing those balls was brilliant.

"And when he's gone around the player, then he brings the ball back and then pops the ball in, he's been incredible.
