Pervert sent to jail for sexual abuse of boy on fishing trip

Victim given alcopop before being touched while asleep

PERVERT Kevin Toplass has been jailed for indecently assaulting a child on an all-night fishing trip.

The 66-year-old gave the boy an alcopop before sexually touching him when he was asleep in a tent decades ago.

The boy woke but Toplass, who has a previous conviction for sexual assault, carried on abusing him.

Now he has been jailed for 40 months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Giles Pengelly said the victim did not report the incident at the time.

But Toplass was convicted of assaulting another boy in similar circumstances in 2005.

When that matter came to light the victim in this case denied he had been abused by Toplass.
