POLICE chiefs have created a new role in a bid to help return stolen vehicles to their owners.
A specialist officer dedicated to ensuring the victims of crime are reunited with their stolen property has been introduced in Staffordshire.
As part of the launch of the force's road crime team (RCT) in October last year, senior officers took the decision to invest in the role of a stolen vehicle examiner. Now PC Matt Leigh scrutinises seizures and uses any intelligence gathered to help the team track down other missing vehicles.
