Moore: The top end of the pitch is a problem for us now

VALE are still searching for their first league win after a hugely frustrating afternoon away to Reading.

Darren Moore's side created enough for at least a point but were sunk on 66 minutes when they failed to intercept a ball across the edge of the area and Paddy Lane curled the ball into the top corner.

Ronan Curtis, Dajaune Brown and Ben Waine all had chances to equalise but the defeat leaves Vale with only two points to show from their opening six matches, in stark contrast to their form in the Carabao Cup with wins at Blackpool and Birmingham.

Moore said: “It sounds like a broken record at the moment. We had chances to get something from the game again, it is just where we are at the moment.
