Potters stopper Tommy caps off superb season with call up to England Under-21 camp

HIGHLY-RATED young Stoke City goalkeeper Tommy Simkin is capping an excellent season with a call-up to England's preparation camp for the under-21s European Championships.

The 20-year-old, who has come through the ranks at Clayton Wood, has committed his future to the club with a long-term deal announced in February and has captained England at under-20s level.

He has been getting his first full season of regular senior league football on loan at Walsall and will play in the League Two play-off final against AFC Wimbledon on Monday (3.01pm).

Simkin will have a quick turnaround after his Wembley appearance to join up with his international teammates at St George's Park in Burton.

The final England squad will be announced on the morning of Friday 6 June.
