VENTURE: Aurelia and Iulian outside Micii.

It's your chance to try the tastes of Romania

A NEW 'open-kitchen' barbecue restaurant, rooted in Romanian cuisine, has opened in Hanley.

Micii is welcoming diners to try a variety of tasty grilled meats.

Owners Iulian Petrisor and Aurelia Niculescu, of Fenton, have taken over the site of Piccadilly’s former Pig & Pitchfork barbecue restaurant, which closed in January.

On the menu are staples such as pork steaks, lamb and halloumi, all available on mixed grill sharing platters alongside salads and pickled vegetables, with an array of sauces. Diners can sit in or take away.

Iulian hopes his meaty menu of skewers and street food will be a hit with food lovers. The 33-year-old said: "Our menu specialises in meat served fresh off the grill. The name 'Micii' is an homage to a kind of Romanian barbeque food.
