Helpers rally round after drivers stuck in the snow

KINDHEARTED neighbours and fellow drivers joined forces to help vehicles stranded on a winter-hit North Staffordshire road.

Police officers also pitched in to push cars stuck in an icy and snowy Kidsgrove. One resident captured the Good Samaritans braving the conditions in Liverpool Road outside the town hall, in the foothills of Kidsgrove Bank.

They said: "This has been Kidsgrove all morning. Local residents pushing the cars up the hill and clearing the snow with shovels. Police are now pushing too. Roads have not been cleared, but I believe these kind ladies and gents deserve a shout out for their hard work for the benefit of the community!"

It came as North Staffordshire was plunged into traffic chaos yesterday morning following Sunday's Arctic blast. Snow began to fall in the afternoon, resulting in abandoned cars being spotted yesterday morning on various key routes.
