Thief targeted two city homes

- Sentinel Reporter

PROFESSIONAL thief Jade Cobden was compared to Goldilocks as she was jailed for burgling two homes while homeless.

The 32-year-old used the washing machine, a bed and a toothbrush at one house before stealing items.

At a second she was 'spaced out' on drugs and laughed at the victim's son when he turned up to check on her mum's home as she was in hospital.

Now a judge has jailed Cobden for 20 months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, telling her: "Being homeless does not entitle you to have the attitude of Goldilocks."

Prosecutor Emily Calman said Cobden burgled an address in Christine Street, Bucknall, on June 28. The owner heard a sound and thought it was his brother but a Snapchat map check for his brother's location 'did not tally' with the address.

Miss Calman said he saw a woman leave via the back door and caught up with Cobden at the end of his drive.

She added: "She repeatedly shouted, 'I am homeless bro, I am sorry, I will pay you £20. She threw £20 at him.
