'Give me £20 and I'll go' said burglar who brought terror to city home in 2am raid

BURGLAR Joshua Guy brandished a knife as he confronted homeowners in the middle of the night.

The 35-year-old had earlier broken into a tanning shop and attacked two police officers.

A neighbour then found Guy inside his home at 2.15am with a knife taken from the property.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard he ran upstairs and held the blade to his own neck. He spoke to others through a bedroom door and demanded £20 to leave. The police arrived and he was arrested.

Now Guy, pictured, has been jailed for six years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Emily Calman said his crime spree began at 12.45am on June 11 when he broke into Insta Tan tanning shop in Fenton by smashing a window with a brick.

The noise woke an upstairs resident who saw Guy climbing through the front window.
