Girl saved from drowning by hero strangers after being dragged out to sea

A MOTHER holidaying in Wales has thanked two strangers - including a man from Stoke-on-Trent - for saving her daughter from drowning.

Moira Malcolm was enjoying a break in Rhyl with her parents, three children, sister-in-law and niece.

Moira's mother had bought inflatables for her three children to use at the beach during the summer heatwave. However, their day out on Sunday took a terrifying turn just before noon when her seven-year-old daughter Shylah was carried away by a riptide on her float.

Shylah had been in the sea with her aunt while her 33-year-old mother was on the beach with her toddler sons, Calden, aged two, and Cabe, one, and three-year-old niece Jayce.

"She was in the sea on a big floatie with her auntie and got swept out," said Moira. "My sister-in-law couldn’t reach her and by the time I realised what was happening and left my sons with my mum and jumped in, these two men were swimming for their lives to try and get to her.
