A LONG-RUNNING shop is closing its doors for good today.

- Thomas Cooper

RAB Fabrics - on The Strand in Longton - shuts for the last time at 4.30pm.

It has been a part of Longton town centre for the last 54 years.

But now the store - which specialises in repairs, alterations and dry cleaning - is set to close as owner Roger Bradshaw, 66, prepares to enjoy his retirement.

Roger, of Werrington, said: “We used to always be around Burslem Market and other markets all over the place, setting up countless stalls. It’s a lot easier just being in the shop!

“Eventually we opened our first store on Commerce Street in Longton in 1971, before we moved to our current location in 1973.

“I eventually bought the business off my dad in 1983 and it’s all just gone from there really.
