Spurs midfielder completes move to the bet365 Stadium ahead of opening Championship clash

- Keith Wales

JAMIE Donley took advice from fellow Spurs loanee Ashley Phillips before opting to join Stoke City.

Stoke City yesterday announced his arrival for their 2025/26 Championship campaign, and the 20-year-old Northern Ireland international explained what prompted him to head to the bet365 Stadium amid interest from rival clubs.

He said: "I had a few teams after me, but I decided on Stoke when the gaffer [Mark Robins] called while I was away on tour with Spurs.

"The way he wants to play, both in terms of attacking and defending, definitely suits me.

"I had a chat with Ash [Phillips] too and he said it's a great club, with good people in the building, and he can definitely see me contributing to the team in a positive way."
