38-year-old was under the influence of class A drugs

- Sentinel Reporter

DAD Daniel Owen strangled his ex-partner after a row over a key.

The 38-year-old's partner ended their relationship due to his drug use.

They argued and Owen placed his forearm around her throat and pulled hard. The victim struggled to breathe for about five seconds but was left with no lasting injuries.

Now Owen has been sentenced to 22 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

The court heard Owen was taking drugs in June 2022 and his then partner was concerned about his behaviour.

Owen, of Burnham Street, Fenton, pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation.
