Competition for places is healthy for Vale's season, insists defender

JORDAN Gabriel is happy to fight for his place alongside Mitch Clark in the Port Vale team and says the two will be supportive of each other whoever is picked.

The 26-year-old wing-back made his Valiants debut in the 1-0 win at Blackpool when he played for an hour.
Whether he makes it into the League One side that faces Burton Albion on Saturday remains to be seen.
He was happy to play his part in Lancashire and said in Thursday's pre-match press conference: "That was the idea when I first came to the club, to play games but unfortunately I picked up a little knock so those minutes on Tuesday night were most important for me.
