DEFENDING champion Andrew Lipscomb is aiming to retain his Sentinel Cup Golf title after reaching this weekend's finals day in a thrilling last four tie.

Burslem's Simon Smith battled back in their semifinal clash at Newcastle Golf Club to take the game to the 17th hole before Andrew, of Wolstanton Golf Club, prevailed.

Andrew said: “I am delighted to reach the final once again and look forward to playing at Trentham Golf Course. Thanks to everyone involved in organising The Sentinel Golf Competitions throughout the year.”

Beaten semifinalist Simon was five down after the first five holes as Andrew showed the quality of a defending champion.
