WHY ATASHA MUHLACH IS FIT FOR THE ROLE OF ANNIE BATUNGBAKAL IN THE MUSICAL

Out of the more than 300 people who signed up for the audition for “Bongga Ka, ‘Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical,” Atasha Muhlach stood out and secured the titular role of Annie, originally played by the late National Artist Nora Aunor in the classic film of the same title.

PETA Plus deputy director Gold Lim said during a presscon, “There were many who auditioned, and with Atasha being part of that audition, sobrang nakakatuwa to see that fire in her eyes. Of course, maraming magagagaling, but when you go on stage, especially with a stage like Newport, you need that certain bigness and certain charm so that the attention is focused on you.”

“It was so fun to see Atasha do her audition because ang kengkoy niya, and she was so prepared, she knows her song. Even when I spoke with her, may twang ang kanyang Filipino, but when she auditioned, as in na-prepare niya yun, and even during the dance audition na sinabayan niya si Sam (Concepcion). I think sobrang nasabayan niya yung quality ni Sam kaya parang nung nakita naman siya parang, ‘Ah siya yun,’” Gold added.

Gold further noted that Atasha has blended well with her castmates despite being a newbie to theater.
