The industry shows tremendous growth in the Philippines
The e-commerce industry has been enjoying a stellar performance in the Philippines in recent years. According to a report by WorldPay, the country experienced one of the highest e-commerce growth rates in the world between 2022 and 2023.
The sector plays a significant role in the country's digital economy. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported that the e-commerce sector contributed 14 percent to the digital economy's gross value added (GVA) in 2023. In the same year, it was also responsible for employing around 8.4 million individuals.
In 2024, the e-commerce sector helped drive the growth rates of various core sectors in the Philippines up to double-digit numbers, according to a report by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company.
