The 13th ASEAN Para Games ended last week with the Philippines breaking all sorts of records.
Garnering snowballing attention because of the relative success of the country, fans discovered new heroes, and rediscovered old ones. But none of those meant as much to our recorded participation as the groundbreaking medal hall of our women's wheelchair basketball team.
In the last eight years, Camille Castro has been laboring with her teammates to break the drought that has played them. And when they finally made the semifinals, they burst into tears. The drought was over, but they still had a chance to find out how far they could really go. Much like the first all-professional team that the PBA sent to the 1990 Asian Games, the Pilipinas Lady Warriors earned a 3X3 silver that meant as much as a gold.
