'MAESTROCLASS' KICKS OFF OPM ANTHOLOGY

LAST FRIDAY, NOV. 14, I WAS PRIVILEGED TO ATTEND the first night of the three-night concert of the Proscenium Theater's "MaestroClass." I was invited by Beaver Lopez, vice president of Rockwell Land, along with his siblings Mike (SVP of Rockwell Land) and Mark Lopez (chairman of ABS-CBN), their spouses Chris and Connie, as well as their cousin Angela Lopez and her boyfriend Dino Santos.

'MAESTROCLASS' KICKS OFF OPM ANTHOLOGY

Tony and Mads Tuviera, Bobby and Baby Barreiro.

The concert series marks the first musical concert presented by Rockwell Land since the Proscenium opened last September. It featured an incredible lineup, including National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab, Lani Misalucha, Martin Nievera and the Ryan Cayabyab Singers (RCS).

It was a beautiful and magical evening celebrating Original Pilipino Music (OPM). The show felt reminiscent of the musical program Ryan Ryan Musikahan, which aired on ABS-CBN in the early '90s - Ryan at the piano, his special guests singing along, intimate and heartwarming.

I had the chance to catch up with the show's director, Rowell Santiago, who shared his vision: to bring the audience closer to the Maestro. He wanted to create an intimate atmosphere where the audience feels as though they are attending one of Mr. C's classes and being transported by his music. This was the reasoning behind the five enormous LED screens that helped shape that immersive experience.
