Joey Marquez shares what men should understand about women
The Philippine Star
|September 17, 2025
Actor-comedian Joey Marquez is amused by men who call him “Idol,” while he is aware that women label him a “womanizer.”
-
The former basketball player and politician clarifies that he is not a womanizer, but, as he puts it, “mapagmahal (loving).”
“It's because I remember my mother telling me, ‘Never say no to a woman.’ I never said no to a woman. It’s disrespectful. So, respect women. Whatever they want, always say yes,” teased Joey when he sat down for “The Talk” segment of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.”
Time management is crucial when dealing with women, he joked. And clearly, Joey wasn’t great at it, recalling instances of overlapping love affairs.
“That's why I'm telling myself now, I just probably thought of having many (women) to find the one. And I did. That’s why I stopped.”
The one he’s referring to is Malu Quintana, whom he described as very understanding of him, a good listener and most especially, she accepted him for who he is.
I asked Joey what men should understand about women and vice versa, to which he answered, “Know your woman so that you'll be the best for her. Treat her as a princess, and when you really fall in love with her, treat her as a queen. Then, give in to what she wants but also tell her what you don’t want.”
He also articulated that a man should be honest with his lady love and never hurt her.
For the ladies, Joey pointed out that men are polygamous by nature.
“Sometimes, men are just looking for the right one, but once they find ‘the one,’ kahit bali-baligtarin mo ‘yan, hindi na aalis ‘yan.”
