Delays rise in SWR's last year as private train line

In May, South Western Railway became the first rail operator to be renationalised. Statistics out last week showed its final year under private ownership was a tough one.

Figures from the Office of Road and Rail (ORR) show that in the year to March, SWR’s percentage of on-time services and of trains cancelled were the worst in five years. It refunded passengers 670,620 times due to delays (up by nearly 100,000 since April 2020).
