Working President of Pradesh Congress Committee and former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand on Wednesday demanded the immediate restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, along with constitutional safeguards for land, jobs, and property rights for localsAddressing block-level workers from Chhamb and Akhnoor constituencies, Tara Chand called the abrogation of J&K's statehood on August 5, 2019, "undemocratic" and reminded the Centre of its unfulfilled assurance to restore it. He urged the BJP-led government to uphold its commitments made on the floor of Parliament.

Highlighting youth concerns, he pushed for the regularization of daily wagers, need-based, and contractual workers, and demanded the filling of over one lakh government vacancies. “Many educated youth have become overaged waiting for employment,” he said.
