Amidst the tension between India and Pakistan, the administration and intelligence agencies are on high alert regarding security in Ayodhya, the city of Lord Ram, a police officer said here on Saturday.

The officer said that Ayodhya is extremely important from the religious and cultural point of view. "It has always been the target of terrorists," he said.

Senior police officers are patrolling the city of Ayodhya throughout the night due to the increasing tension between India and Pakistan. Special surveillance is being maintained in sensitive and hypersensitive areas.

Verification of outsiders and people staying for a long time is being done. Social media is also being closely monitored. Details of those spreading rumours and posting misleading posts are being collected.
