SC verdict on petitions seeking cross-verification of VVPAT today

THE Supreme Court will pronounce the verdict on Friday on a batch of petitions seeking directions to the Election Commission of India (EC) and the Central government to ensure that voters are able to verify through VVPATS (voter verifiable paper audit trails) that their vote has been "counted as recorded".
A two-judge bench of the Supreme Court, comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Dutta, will pronounce the judgment at around 10.30 am on Friday morning, according to the Supreme Court's updated cause list.
The apex court had on Wednesday reserved the verdict on the pleas after hearing extensively from the petitioners, election commission and other concerned parties.
The apex court's cause list further indicated that there will be two judgments in the case one by Justice Khanna and the other by Justice Datta.
