Ladakh administration orders magisterial probe into 4 deaths

AS the Lt Governor administration in Ladakh ordered a magisterial probe into the four deaths in police firing during the September 24 protests in Leh for statehood and the 6th Schedule, the Leh Apex Body (LAB), an amalgam of various political, social, trade, and religious groups of Leh, renewed its demand for judicial inquiry by a retired Supreme Court judge, while a supporter of jailed climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has allegedly died by suicide, increasing tension in the cold desert.

The District Magistrate of Leh has ordered a magisterial inquiry into four deaths on September 24, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nubra Mukul Beniwal has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer.
