THE Enforcement Directorate on Monday opposed the bail plea of former Tamil Nadu minister V Senthil Balaji in the money laundering case.

"The accused played a pivotal role in the job racket scam and should not be granted bail by the top court," the ED lawyer told the apex court's two-judge bench led by Justice Abhay S Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan.

As ED's main lawyer, Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta, was unavailable for arguments, junior lawyer sought adjournment, to which the top court agreed and said it would hear the matter on May 6.
