|May 15, 2024
THE Supreme Court on Tuesday granted bail to human rights activist and journalist Gautam Navlakha in the 2018 Bhima Koregaon violence case, refusing to extend the stay imposed by the Bombay High Court order on his bail.
Navlakha was under house arrest at a public library in Mumbai since November 2022 due to his ill health.
A bench of Justices MM Sundresh and SVN Bhatti refused to extend the stay imposed by the Bombay High Court order on the bail granted to Navlakha in the case.
It also directed Navlakha to pay ₹20 lakh towards expenses for security in house arrest.
