Sambhal violence: Mosque chief held, brother says arrest to stop testimony

FOUR months after communal violence rocked the Sambhal city in UP, Shahi Jama Masjid management committee chairman Zafar Ali was arrested on Sunday on the charge of inciting a mob.
Sambhal had witnessed violence on November 24, 2024 in the wake of a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid to determine if a temple had earlier existed at the mosque site. The violence had claimed five lives.
