A BRILLIANT century by Yash Rathod (112) and an all-round display by Harsh Dubey (64; 3/40) helped Vidarbha thrash Tamil Nadu by 198 runs with a day to spare in the quarterfinals of the Ranji Trophy played at Nagpur on Tuesday.
Set a stiff target of 401, Tamil Nadu batters caved into pressure and were at one stage reduced to 45 for five thanks to a fiery spell by Nachiket Bhute (3/19) who accounted for the likes of N Jagadeesan (18), Vijay Shankar (5) and Boopathi Kumar (0). From then on the visitors' hopes vanished though half-centuries by Pradosh Ranjan Paul, Sonu Yadav delayed the inevitable. Tamil Nadu were eventually bowled out for 202 in 61.1 overs in their second essay.
